Good Day Noir Family,
In a musical landscape often dominated by trends and predictable formulas, Lolfa Binc’s Ymbincio bursts forth as something truly out of the ordinary.

Ymbincio is Lolfa Binc’s Ep Out Now

From the very first moments of the EP, an electrifying current pulses through, paving the way for an adventure that promises to defy the expected.

This is a band that’s not here to follow the crowd; they’re carving out their own space, blending genres and influences in a way that’s daring and thought-provoking.

The opening track, SYNDOD Y SÊR, introduces a sound that’s hard to pin down. An almost primal rhythm of drums that echo like tribal calls, layered with distorted guitars, creates a chaotic yet strangely harmonious atmosphere.

The voice that enters, reverberated and almost megaphonic, delivers lines in Celitic that translate to “Wonder of the Stars.” It’s as if the band is setting up a cosmic journey — a tale that’s as much about the sound as it is about the mystery of the words.

It’s bold, audacious, and entirely unlike anything currently dominating the airwaves.

From there, the EP continues with DISBEROD, a track that leans into the avant-garde and keeps the listener on their toes. The track’s erratic rhythm and unpredictable shifts in melody never let you settle, but they also never lose your attention.

It’s the kind of track that challenges the listener, demanding they keep pace with its constantly shifting gears. The wild energy of the song is complemented by an underlying sense of purpose, as though the band is channelling something greater than just sonic experimentation.

MEGABUS shifts the mood as it opens more gently, with a subdued atmosphere that gradually builds in intensity. It’s a momentary reprieve from the chaos that came before, yet the tension still simmers beneath the surface.

The track grows with slow, deliberate power, carrying the same sense of unease but dressed in a slightly softer cloak. The influence of punk is there, but it’s more of an undercurrent than a dominant force, as the track dips into a blend of singer-songwriter intimacy with a touch of Nick Cave’s brooding flair.

Closing out the EP is SGIDIAU NEWYDD, the track that perhaps feels the most immediately accessible, but don’t be fooled: the unique flavor of Lolfa Binc remains ever-present. The dark tones that underpin their music are alive and well here, even as the track’s hooks are more easily digestible.

There’s a gothic undertone that wraps itself around the melodies, offering a slight sense of the eerie and the unknown.

Ymbincio is a discovery worth making. It’s not music that will sit easily in the background. It demands your full attention and rewards you with something new with every listen.
