Whale calls echo in the distance, mingling with voices as ethereal as sirens—a spectral invitation to plunge into an auditory journey eerie and magnetic.
There’s a distinct halo to this opener, a call you can’t ignore as you’re drawn into their dark, immersive world.
With “On The Run,” the album’s adventure takes shape in full force. The lead singer’s voice casts an enchanting spell, creating a feeling of ritual and mystery that sweeps you along.
Backed by distorted guitars and driving drums, the track builds a grand, almost cinematic atmosphere that’s mesmerizing and intense.
In “Vendetta,” the tempo is relentless and precise, evoking imagery of Matrix-like rhythms and cascading sequences—a march of precision that holds you captive.
“Matter of Time” dives deep into a chilling realm, the sharpness of each chord like a blade slicing through cold air. The vocalist, Bri, layers each verse with a haunting sensuality, pulling listeners further into the album’s darker recesses.
“Peur” continues this atmospheric descent, reflecting the band’s commitment to creating complete experiences that transcend typical music-making. They strive for a vision that is nothing short of immersive art.
“Cliffs” is one of my favourites, conjuring images of moonlit cliffs rising against the night sky. The music here has a transcendent quality, creating vivid, dreamlike scenes that linger long after the song ends.
I already reviewed “Oscillations,” in the past and you can read what I think about the song here.
Finally, “Raining Again” closes the album in a twilight zone between reality and the metaphysical—a sonic purgatory where voices drift from beyond, giving a surreal, otherworldly finish to an album crafted with intense artistic vision.
The Silent Era delivers a masterful, chilling experience that stays with you, making Wide And Deep And Cold an essential listen for those who appreciate music that dares to explore the unknown.

Mesmerizing!
“This sonic odyssey explores the complexities of dealing with trauma, navigating themes of pain, isolation and ultimately resilience. The metaphor of the ocean, with its vast depths and turbulent waves, perfectly captures the emotions we navigate on this album. We begin in the stormy seas of pain and sail through to the serene shores of realisation.”

London-based four-piece blending industrial, goth rock, shoegaze, and post-punk to create heavy, dreamy soundscapes, woven through with introspective lyrics which explore the darker side of human nature. Although each member comes from a different country with their own background and musical projects, they found their common playground in The Silent Era by drenching instruments in distortion and reverb and exploring various aspects of alt-rock.
