Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to The Vanities. I discovered this Duo while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their sound and style.
The sound of this duo is very interesting. Definitely, a compositional style that takes its cue from the past.
Listening to the songs proposed in their new album ‘2001’ I took a leap into the past and found myself experiencing typical sonorities of the 80s.
The first band that came to my mind are Depeche Mode.
The interesting thing is that The Vanities managed to insert elements of alternative rock that make the overall sound recipe very original.
These guys have managed to make different musical genres coexist with each other in a very original balance.
Unique and very catchy sound. Honestly, I found no flaws in this album all the songs are mature and ready to be played on big stages around the world.
The album is coherent and has a nostalgic love for the past as its theme in my opinion.
Go and listen to them, it’s worth it.
2001 is The Vanities’ Album Out Now!
Mature and Vintage!
The Vanities are an electro-rock duo from Cardiff formed in 2001 by Rhys Bradley (vox/guitars) & Adam Hill (bass/keyboards). Combining a love of 90s grunge & 80s synth-pop, “2001”, is a Molotov cocktail of influences, with Bowie, Nirvana, Mode & U2 to the fore.
