The Secret is Sabet and Doherty’s Ep
The sound proposed by these musicians has shades that made me think of the 80s.
The keys have a very interesting vintage sound, back in fashion thanks to the renewed success of bands such as Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush.
Even the effects used on the guitar catapult you back in time, in my opinion with details that suggest the first David Howell Evans (the Edge).
We certainly find ourselves in front of musicians with a great compositional experience behind them.
The songs on the EP The Secret are solid and dynamically built in an impeccable way. The guitar solos are fantastic and the drums also enrich the sound with exciting riffs.
The work done with the vocal melody, and the choirs are truly refined. I honestly liked all of Sabet and Doherty’s songs. Somehow their sound hides some nostalgia that makes their music very fascinating.
Pamper yourself with a nice moment of music and go listen to these beautiful songs.

The Secret is Sabet and Doherty’s Ep
Steven Sabet and Brian Doherty initially met as side musicians in a NYC band. As songwriters, they’ve been working in earnest since the day Doherty purchased home studio equipment and asked Sabet to email him some tracks, to test new gear and engineer his own sessions. Well, things worked out and the pair pursued writing and recording, which bore the fruits of their debut 5 song EP, released in March of 2020.
The work, met with favorable reviews, was the springboard for their current EP entitled The Secret, which sometimes harbors the mood of 80’s New Wave while showcasing their skills as songwriters, producers, and musicians that deliver lean ear worms. Prior to the pairing, Doherty was known for his drumming with They Might Be Giants, Freedy Johnston, and Ben Folds, among others. Sabet played guitar in bands Darby Jones and MORE and is now Concert Master in the NJ Guitar Orchestra. By day, the duo are music educators who hail from New Jersey – Doherty from Randolph and Sabet from Montville. The Secret can be heard now on all streaming platforms.
