The Daytime High Self-Titled Album Is Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
The Daytime High’s self-titled album offers a refreshing blend of alternative rock with elements that feel nostalgic and forward-thinking.

The Daytime High Self-Titled Album Is Out Now

It opens with Every Single Day, a track that lures you in with an upbeat melody, only to surprise you with lyrics that delve into deeper emotional territory.

This contrast between the music’s initial lightness and the introspective, nostalgic tone of the lyrics is a hallmark of the band’s approach.

Waterfall takes things up a notch, with its alternative rock edge and a touch of grunge. The song builds into a melodic chorus that carries an almost dystopian mood, evoking a sound reminiscent of bands like Muse.

It’s an intense journey through soaring highs and shadowy undertones, a track that doesn’t shy away from heavier atmospheres.

Never Good Enough shifts the pace with a slower, more reflective tone. The bassline adds a noir vibe, giving the track a late-night, cinematic feel—a perfect companion for quiet drives through empty streets.

Driftin’ kicks in with a solid drum groove, instantly transporting you back to the ’70s. The psychedelic vocal harmonies and layered instrumentation lend the track a unique character.

On Pandemonium, the band taps into a folk-rock rhythm that recalls R.E.M., particularly Losing My Religion, blending alternative rock with folk influences.

One of my favorite of the album is Reaper, an intense track with a driving groove that hints at Depeche Mode’s darker moods. The song’s rhythm makes you want to move, while its undercurrents of Pink Floyd-esque textures add a rich, immersive layer.

The album closes with the psychedelic ballad Open Up, a slow-building track that culminates in a unifying, sing-along moment, leaving listeners on a note of communal relief and celebration.

The repeated “La La La” chorus invites everyone to join in, perfectly rounding off the journey this album takes you on. All the songs of the album are solid, truly a great work by this fantastic band.

Evocative!

The Daytime High Self-Titled Album Is Out Now

Their highly anticipated original album, aptly titled ‘The Daytime High,’ is out now. Recorded at the Garudio in Thousand Oaks between 2022 and 2023 by the band themselves, the album was meticulously mixed by Curt Piar and The Daytime High, with the exception of ‘Melting,’ which the band handled themselves.

The album’s overarching ethos revolves around creating powerful, memorable songs that resonate with audiences and stand the test of time, aiming to bring joy and introspection to all who listen. With themes of loss, existential musings, and a touch of dark humor, ‘The Daytime High’ offers a sonic journey that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant.
