Good Day Noir Family,
I already reviewed Groan Room in the past but they are back with a new fantastic single and I want to share my opinion about it.
tesco roof is very intimate and minimalist.
This talented band has managed, with refined artistic choices and musical arrangements, to create an intriguing tune.
tesco roof is able to speak directly to the heart and soul of the listener. While listening to this magical melody I felt like opening a drawer where I found old yellowed polaroids and for a moment I relived those memories.
A nostalgic song capable of making you discover parts of your unconscious that you did not yet know.
The crescendo ending reminded me of Radiohead’s Karma Police and the drum riffs at the end are exceptional… unexpected but absolutely perfect.
Groan Room always manages to amaze for the originality of its musical vision.
tesco roof is Groan Room’s Single Out Now!
Fascinating!
Groan room make way for their slow-core tendencies with ‘tesco roof’, an atmospheric, shoe-gazing, guitar-focused ballad. It was recorded and produced by Gary Hadfield at Blueprint Studios, Salford in December 2021.
The drummer and bassist rock simplistically back and forth to welcome the song into life, followed by a hushed guitar and vocals. The texture is ever changing with the use of samples and pedals, sowing an unsettling nostalgia into the listener, and taking them on a trip to the moon during the explosive, wall-of-sound outro.
