I was very impressed by this artist’s music.
A compositional style that takes inspiration from the past but manages to be modern at the same time.
An epic and solid hard rock with prog influences.
The production is impeccable and professional and all the musicians who participated performed excellently. With a line up like that it’s hard to go wrong.
Torben Madsen aka Sonic Metaphors is a great composer and artist, the musical richness of these tracks is brilliant. The arrangements are treated with care in every little detail.
All the songs of Something Dark are interesting and apart from The Monster You Made which is a ballad with a crescendo ending, the other tracks are all powerful and energetic.
An intense Ep and considering that it is the first work of this artist the future looks bright for Torben Madsen.
Honestly, I have not found any flaws. The songs are all of high quality and I recommend everyone to go and listen to the music of this artist. You will be pleasantly surprised by the musical universe of Sonic Metaphors.

Behind SONIC METAPHORS stands Danish artist/songwriter/musician “Torben Madsen”, who performed as a drummer, in various Danish underground bands, through the years.
In 2015, Torben formed SONIC METAPHORS as an instrumental studio – project and started demoing his own musical ideas. Now in 2023, SONIC METAPHORS, is ready with his debut ep ‘’SOMETHING DARK’’.
“SOMETHING DARK ’’ offers a star-studded lineup of talented guest performers. Grammy-nominated drummer ‘’ Dirk Verbeuren ’’ of ‘’ Megadeth ’’. Grammy-nominated vocalist, ‘’ Tim ‘’Ripper’’ Owens ’’ frontman of ‘’ KK’s Priest ’’ (ex – Judas Priest , ex – Yngwie Malmsteen, ex Iced Earth ) Ex Iron Maiden frontman ‘’ Blaze Bayley ’’ Guitarist ‘’ Dre DiMura’’, who has performed on stages around the world with American artist ‘’ Diamante ’’.
‘’SOMETHING DARK ’’ is stacked with SONIC METAPHORS, catchy, powerful, and melodic riffs, combined with deep reflective lyrics and BIG choruses that takes you on a journey you won’t forget any time soon.
The ep is Produced by ‘’Torben Madsen’’ is mixed and mastered by ‘’ Kristian Øgir ’’, who learned his craft from none other than Danish super producer ‘’ Tue Madsen ’’. The artwork for ’’SOMETHING DARK’’ is done by the extremely talented Danish artist, ‘’ Jacob Nedergaard ’’ in his own unique style, a great mix of horror, comedy and so much more.
