Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Platform 1. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their sweet and gentle sound.
The delicate and refined music of this band immediately won me over. The singer’s reminded me of Suzanne Vega, a warm and mysterious vocal tone that I liked very much.
The chord progression and the melodic nuances are very interesting and in some passages, they reminded me of those of R.E.M.
A band that takes inspiration from a way of making music of the past but that has managed to insert very interesting elements of modernity.
The production is very well done because it is real and sincere. The instruments used are real and you can hear the wood and the strings vibrating.
It feels like these guys have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve this magical sound understanding.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.
So Much For The Sadness is Platform 1’s Ep Out Now!
Unique and Magic!
Platform 1 are a three piece band originally from West Wales but now split their time between home and Bristol. Having spent most of their time home in West Wales over lockdown , they have spent the last year working on their new six track EP titled ‘So Much For The Sadness’.
Inspired by artists such as The Cranberries, Taylor Swift and Steve Earle, Platform 1 have spent time exploring different avenues of song writing and collaborating with other artists. Common themes in earlier songs touch upon teenage relationships and trepidation but more recently, they have started to take inspiration from issues we face in our current society and struggles we face in our daily lives.
