Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Plain Navy. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their sound a lot.
The general sound of this band immediately intrigued me. A compositional style typical of the English bands… irreverent and eclectic.
A direct and sincere rock with no strings attached. It feels like Plain Navy spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve such an enviable sonic chemistry.
The chord progression is never predictable and banal and manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second.
The production is also very good and in particular the mix that leaves the right space for each sound element and the song breathes well.
A band to keep under the radar because these guys seem to have clear ideas on how to propose their musical project to the masses.
Livin’ Alone is Plain Navy’s Single Out Now!
Fresh and Modern!
Young alt. indie rockers Plain Navy are the newest big noise to come out of Saddleworth, on the Manchester side of the Pennines, overlooking the great city, an area with a rich musical heritage (there is something in the water) which has produced more than its fair share of indie rock stars, including Jonny Brown and Twisted Wheel, Jake Fletcher (Cupids) and all the way back to Prog rockers Barclay James Harvest.
Formed in 2018, they sold out their first headline performance in Manchester and have released two singles to date, ‘Symphony’ and ‘Facing Me’. The band are hard at work on new material and have recently signed to Manchester’s 42’s Records, with a new single Livin’ Alone out now.
