Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Mono Xl. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the atmosphere created by his music.
Generally, on this blog we talk about rock music but in this case I feel like making an exception because I liked a lot the music of this artist.
The proposed melodies and harmonic intuitions reminded me of those of the Pet Shop Boys. A way of composing music that takes its cue from the past but manages to be modern at the same time.
The thing I liked the most is the vocal, nostalgic and dreamy melody that literally made me fly with my imagination and I found myself traveling in my car one rainy night with the wipers cleaning the glass and also my memories and my thoughts, in one of those days when you want to be alone.
A very eclectic artist that I recommend to everyone.
Where I Belong is Mono Xl’s Single Out Now!
Fascinating!
Big beats, blissful melodies and outright poetic honesty – Mono XL drives with a uniquely creative sense of identity as their passionate and refreshingly original debut hits the scene.
Quoting influences from Bowie to Prince, Hot Chip, The Voidz and Radiohead, multi-instrumental front-man Mike de Lis is unconfined by genre. The Spanish-born artist, now based in London, boasts a life-long dedication to music. His experience is second to none, and his unwavering love for the process completes the essentials for a truly immersive, artistic sound and style.
‘Where I Belong’ is a beautifully engaging new single, leading with a euphoric synth-riff and a mighty vocal that promises honesty and depth.
