Mona is Pennan Brae’s new single out now, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts about this new release from this talented artist.
The music of this artist brings joy and gives you good vibes from the very first notes.
A contagious rhythmic cadence that leaves no way out and prevents you from sitting on the chair.
Your nervous system begins to send electrical impulses throughout your body which begins to move in time to the music.
The chord progression is very interesting, at times repetitive but in those moments it hypnotizes you and you wish it would never end.
The production is excellent and I particularly liked that the voice has been left inside the mix and becomes almost an integral part of the music, becoming an instrument.
A courageous artist choice but in my opinion well suited.

‘Mona’ is the lead single off Pennan Brae’s upcoming 10th album, ‘Planted’. The upbeat country-rock-pop track sings an ode to past love, specifically Mona in Verse 1 & Rhonda in Verse 2. Recorded, mixed & mastered at Blue Light Studio in Vancouver, BC, a music video shall be premiering with the single’s release on Sept 17. ‘Planted’, an album of 10 songs, is set for release Oct 8th & is the 3rd full-length album by Pennan in 2021.
‘Planted’ shall serve as the first half of a double album, with the 2nd half, ‘Picked’ set for release in 2022. The lyrics are below for ‘Mona’ for reference.
