Good Day Noir Family,
Mad Bad World’s Mercy Memory opens with Deja Vu…Endless Blue, a track that transports the listener into a parallel world.

The futuristic keyboard sound creates an unstable, yet fascinating atmosphere that shows the artist’s ability to craft a unique and visionary experience.

The track feels like stepping into an alternate dimension, one that is enticing and unpredictable. There’s an immediate sense of immersion, with the music almost pulling you into a space where the laws of time and space don’t quite apply.

The second track, Weirdo, dives deeper into the album’s core mood. The artist’s ethereal voice, paired with epic pads, creates a surreal atmosphere that has an almost mystical quality. It’s a track that feels like a journey, guiding you through an otherworldly space where the boundaries of reality are blurred.

This piece is a perfect representation of the album’s tone — it’s strange, hypnotic, and full of emotional weight, as though it’s leading you through an adventure into the unknown.

Mirror Mime picks up the pace a little, introducing more rhythm while maintaining the unique characteristics that make this artist stand out. There’s a refreshing energy to this track, yet it still carries the distinctive musical touch that makes Mad Bad World feel unlike anyone else in the genre.

Then comes Vuja De…Endless Gray, which serves as a beautiful interlude. The track mirrors the opening piece, Deja Vu…Endless Blue, bringing things full circle while adding an additional layer of depth. It’s reflective and ambient, giving the listener space to breathe while maintaining the album’s ethereal feel.

One of the standout moments of Mercy Memory is Hello, Hello. The delicate arpeggios in this track are simply mesmerizing, reaching deep into the listener’s soul with their quiet intensity. The voice is soothing, as if guiding you through a quiet, tranquil moment, while the trembling sounds create a warmth that is impossible to ignore. It’s like watching the flicker of a candle flame — fragile, yet full of emotion. The track’s twilight atmosphere has a haunting beauty.

The album closes with the title track, Mercy Memory, which offers a fitting, cosmic finale. The sound here feels expansive, as if floating through an endless space. It’s a fitting end to the journey, where the music swirls in a timeless void, inviting the listener to drift beyond the ordinary.

Mercy Memory is a standout album, full of moments that capture a sense of wonder, mystery, and introspection. Mad Bad World’s unique approach to music creates an experience that’s hard to compare to anything else. It’s a must-listen for anyone seeking a musical journey that pushes boundaries and explores new emotional depths.

Snake 25 is Rosetta West’s Single Out Now

Mad Bad World is the brainchild of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, Matt Battle. After cutting his teeth in the Los Angeles and New York music scenes, the Rochester, NY native re-emerged with a new moniker and sound. Battle previously garnered attention for his drumming with the psychedelic-soul band Chicano Batman, though all the while was quietly crafting an eclectic collection of songs of his own; synthesizing his love for psychedelic, lo-fi, and electronic music with his early influences of punk, indie, and alternative music.
