Macondo is Kingfisher’s Album Out Now
This band is not content with just creating music; they’re intent on painting a broad spectrum of emotions and narratives, and “Macondo” is a perfect reflection of that ambition.
Inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s literary masterpiece, “One Hundred Years of Solitude,” “Macondo” takes us on a surreal and captivating journey into the city of dreams, envisioned by José Arcadio.
The album’s style is a refined tapestry of musical excellence, with songs that are meticulously crafted, displaying intriguing dynamics and outstanding harmonical intuitions.
What sets “Macondo” apart is its ability to seamlessly blend alternative rock into a modern and ethereal soundscape.
The high frequencies in the mix create a crystalline sound that contrasts beautifully with the nostalgic melodies woven throughout the album.
It’s a captivating and somewhat unexpected mix, making for an immersive listening experience.
One of the album’s standout tracks, “Young Forever,” (maybe inspired by Alphaville’s “Forever Young”) showcases a more introspective side of this talented band. It proves that they can masterfully navigate through intricate emotional landscapes.
On the other end of the spectrum, “Stand Back In” injects a burst of energy with infectious 80s funk vibes. This track is a whirlwind of groovy rhythms and irresistible melodies that’ll get you moving in no time.
However, it’s important to note that all the songs on “Macondo” are solid. Kingfisher’s ability to maintain a consistent level of quality throughout the album show their dedication to their craft.
Each track is a piece of the larger narrative, contributing to the overall depth and richness of the album.
“Macondo” is an album that resonates on multiple levels, making it a must-listen for those who appreciate the artistry and depth of alternative rock.

Macondo is Kingfisher’s Album Out Now
Kingfisher is a modern indie-rock band with diverse influences. From Bloc Party to Placebo, from Arctic Monkeys to Smashing Pumpkins, the connecting thread is one: energy. Melancholic melodies, waterfall-delay guitars and fast drums fuse and produce this Swedish yet international band. Composed of a Colombian guitarist and vocalist, Italian drummer and Swedish bassist, Kingfisher is a pinch of everywhere.
Kingfisher’s members – Julian, Nich and Affe – abide by an eco-friendly vision and work toward a fairer, cleaner world. The album, Macondo, is inspired by the novel “100 Years of Solitude” written by Gabriel García Márquez (Nobel Prize 1982). The artwork of Macondo is dedicated to the brave men and women who fight for the conservation of wildlife in the Amazon rainforest.
