our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Lo Rays. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their way of making music.
The thing that struck me the most is the passion with which the singer interprets the songs proposed by this band.
A modern, effective voice that surely follows the canons of the most popular music of these days.
The arrangements are epic, the great use of reverb manages to give great airiness to the composition of the Lo Rays.
The chord progression is not obvious and banal and amazes for the inclusion of bridges that also venture into hard rock.
A band that is not afraid to experiment and that offers a modern, innovative and magnificent sound.
The Lo Rays have managed to find an enviable balance between electronic instruments and more classic arrangements thus creating something unique and different.
Go and listen to them it’s worth it.

Energetic alt-rock and dark pop come together in Glasgow-based band Lo Rays’ new single Atom by Atom. Synths and heavy guitars blend into each other, while dynamic vocals of Laura Takala lead the song to an explosive breakdown.
Atom by Atom is released with a music video that was filmed entirely by the singer Laura in lockdown. In the video she is picking up pieces of glass from her mouth, as the lyrics tackle distortion of self-image and loss of control.
Finnish songwriter Laura formed the band after moving to Glasgow to make music in 2018. Drawing inspiration from bands like Arcane Roots, Enter Shikari and PVRIS, Lo Rays’ music ranges from heavy breakdowns to haunting beats.
