Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to King Bastard. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked a lot their compositional style.
The sound of this band is innovative and intriguing.
As soon as I pressed the play button I was catapulted into a different and fascinating sound universe.
This music seems to come from the future because the sound research is very well thought out and the attention to every minimum detail is obsessive.
I closed my eyes while listening to the new Ep of King Bastard ‘It Came From The Void’ and I started flying with my imagination.
I saw myself driving a spaceship ready to face interstellar adventures … what if I am the one who Came From The Void? Maybe we all are.
This Ep has no flaws in my opinion and is a coherent and solid musical path. We just have to let ourselves be carried away by this wonderful music.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.
It Came From The Void is King Bastard’s Album Out Now!
Innovative and Futuristic!
King Bastard was originally formed by Mike (guitar) and Arthur (bass) in November of 2018, when the two grew increasingly desperate to jam. Lacking a drummer, they sought one out by posting poorly photoshopped flyers around campus. Eventually, this lead to the two playing with a drummer who had only been behind the kit for 6 months. Learning Black Sabbath covers quickly turned into full on improvisation as the duo tried to work around their drummer’s inexperience. This in turn was what gave birth to King Bastard’s sound, a fusion of traditional doom riffs with experimental psychedelic jams. In the midst of finding their new sound, long time friend Isabel had joined the group to add synth to the mix, furthering the uniqueness of their sound. The band had decided that it was time for a more experienced drummer, leading them to cross paths with their current drummer Matt Ryan.
