our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Jasper Schalks. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the vibes of this music.
This artist’s music transfers positive vibes. In some passages it reminded me of Ben Harper in a softer version.
While listening to the music of this talented artist I closed my eyes and I traveled with my imagination and found myself driving a convertible in the Dutch countryside, surrounded by windmills and tulips.
At that moment I felt free and the wind in my hair carried away all the negative thoughts.
This music is therapeutic especially in this stressful time for the world. Absolutely recommended if you want to spend a carefree 5 minutes.

Jasper Schalks (1994) is a Dutch americana singer-songwriter. He started writing his own songs in 2014, already inspired by his storytellers like Bob Dylan and Randy Newman. Schalks’ songs are characterized by nostalgic melodies and effective lyrics, where the power lies in their simplicity.
Some of his songs present characters on the fringe of society, people who are way more interesting than the happy few or the ordinary Joes and Janes. Other songs are simply honest songs about his (former) bad luck in love.
