welcome to Edgar Allan Poets indie music corner. A space dedicated to the best new artists and bands we find around the web. Today we are going to ask some questions to Reboot the System about their musical vision, project, and their Album The Fall.
Interview with Reboot the System
Tell us more about yourself. Why did you decide to create your own music?
My name is Mattias and I am a 31 year old male from Gothenburg, Sweden. I was introduced to metal music at around the age of 13 and I also started playing the guitar around that time. When I was around 14 I started creating my own songs and 2 songs from that era actually made the album. “Beast of Prey” and “Iniquity”.
What are the bands or artists that inspire you?
The Haunted’s first album was the first metal album I bought. So right from the gecko, it was Swedish metal that inspired me the most. Soilwork, Darkane, At the Gates and In Flames was my favourite bands as a kid.
You have a new album out now, can you tell us more about the recording process, and what inspired you to write these songs?
The album was recorded at my studio and produced at Studio Fredman.
Since I live in Gothenburg and all my favourite bands produced their first albums here at Studio Fredman there was really only one option for me. I always wanted to do an album but it took me over 16 years to actually sit down and make it happen. Sometimes life gets in the way of things. I like free interpretation of my songs.
What about the lyrics, what is your favorite line and why?
My favourite line would be: “Go inside your own mind and you will find the truth that lies beneath“. Because it’s the answer to everything.
I noticed that you started in 2020 to put your music on Spotify, what are your bigger challenges in promoting your music?
Everything about promoting your music is really hard when you are not signed by any label. But at the same time, it feels good not to have anybody over your shoulder telling you what to do.
What do you think about the music business today and the quality of music in general nowadays?
The music business I would say is about the same. In the end, all they care about is money.
Tell us a quote you would like to be remembered for by the world.
If you want something really bad and put your soul and effort into it, it will become a reality.
