Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to In The Shallows. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked their refined compositional style.
Already from the first seconds, the sound of this band hit me.
A mysterious and sinuous sound that fascinated me and gave birth to thoughts of freedom.
The singer’s voice with its high, delicate timbre mesmerized me as the mermaids did with Ulysses in Homer’s Odyssey.
The chord progression is never predictable and banal and manages to entertain the listener from the first to the last second with interesting rhythmic and harmonic variations.
In some passages, their way of composing music reminded me of Radiohead atmospheres even if in a more delicate version.
The magic and nostalgia that I enjoyed in the melodies of In The Shallows moved me a lot.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Nostalgic and Magical!
Wellington based Folk Rock – Indie Pop band ‘In The Shallows’ are a divine combination of delicate folk tones of Welsh singer-songwriter Danni Parsons intertwined with the raw vocals of Kiwi rock and roller Lance Shepherd.
Together with Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol) and Nick Brown (Eb & Sparrow, Vorn), they have created an exquisitely diverse and silken sound that weaves together soaring harmonies, mesmerising vocals and acoustic guitars with relatable lyrics about intricate tales of love, loss, connection, redemption and empowerment.
