Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Hook. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the energy of their music.
I immediately liked the opening arpeggio of Best Days, mysterious and fascinating.
The melodic line of the voice in some passages reminded me of Alice Cooper even if Hook’s compositional approach is much more modern.
I liked the general sound a lot, the singer’s voice timbre is fantastic and makes this band immediately recognizable.
The rhythmic session is solid and the bass sinuously moves followed like a shadow by the kick.
You can hear that Hook spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to reach this enviable musical understanding.
This band offers beautiful music, recorded to perfection. The mix, in particular, is very well balanced.
A nice discovery that I absolutely recommend to everyone.

Great Music!
Hook are a 3-piece based in Dublin, Ireland featuring Eoin O’Donnell – vocals, guitars; Morgan O’Brien – drums; Danny Spelman – bass, vocals.
They play new wave indie rock. Lovely comparisons have been made with Arcade Fire, Neil Young, Elvis Costello and Velvet Underground.
They play direct, honest music, trying to dispense with the distractions of the world today. Focus on the positive, the light, the love that’s out there. You get back what you put out. Hook are sending out all the positives they can count while keeping an honesty in the music. The songs are about the small moments, the brutality of love and finding the beautiful in the simple.
