Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Gyats0. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked the atmosphere created by their music.
The sound of this band is really interesting. Music that takes inspiration from the past but manages to be modern at the same time.
As soon as I started listening to the new single Wake it is as if I had opened a drawer and found in it some yellowed polaroids and looking at them I had gone back in time to relive those emotions.
This sound makes you see life like those videos shot in Super 8. These vintage nuances bring with them a lot of emotions and memories.
It feels like Gyats0 have spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to achieve this envious sonic chemistry.
A band to keep under the radar as they produce original and unique music.

Gyats0 was formed in the summer of 2021, in Portland OR, when Jacob Kiely-Song approached Tom Higgins and Danny Charvat (who lived together) about backing him for a show. At the time Will Devitt, who was out in Portland for the summer was also staying at the house with Tom and Dan. He heard Kiely-Song’s tune “Drift” which had just been released on streaming, and was interested to be a part of the band as well.
Fast forward through a summer packed with shows, and from the scene the band connected with Olivia Phillips and Ethan Kellner, and joined forces to give the band an even bigger sound. This past winter (Jan 2022) the full band went to Brooklyn to record “Heartacher” live in studio. And that brings us up to the present.
