Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Guilherme. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was bewitched by his music.
The Ep proposed by this artist is really interesting. More than a music product, it’s a sound journey.
I closed my eyes and I let the artist guide me into his vision without asking myself too many questions.
Like Virgil when he accompanied Dante on his wonderful journey of the Divine Comedy.
A dark, paranoid but very fascinating world created by this talented artist.
Music that speaks directly to the heart and soul and that manages to make you discover sides of your unconscious that are still unknown.
Sound rich in nuances where the artist keeps every detail under control in order to make you live a unique and magical experience.
I recommend everyone to listen to these beautiful songs.
Demon is Guilherme’s Ep Out Now!
Unique and Twilight!
Guilherme Cosme is a singer, songwriter and poet who found solace in art at a young age. Born and raised in Brazil, in his teens the self-taught musician wrote songs as catharsis while struggling with depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. He trained his voice by studying the work of Jazz greats like Andy Bey and the legendary Nina Simone.
Initially insecure about his abilities, Guilherme kept his music to himself until his early 20’s when he found the courage to share it with other musicians. Although all his early work was in his native Portuguese, as a writer he loved the cadence and phonetical textures of English. He moved to Ireland to immerse himself in the language and never looked back.
In addition to his early Jazz influences, Cosme was inspired by the work of Layne Stayley (Alice in Chains) and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees). He found his voice in Rock & Roll. In Ireland he formed one half of the duo Eçá and then later transitioned to his current role of singer/songwriter for the band Mary Bleeds.
Their debut album showcases Guilherme’s deeply personal writing style as he weaves biblical imagery and scenes from childhood into the band’s nuanced Post-Punk sound. In addition to his work with the Mary Bleeds, Guilherme Cosme has produced a new solo EP titled ‘Demon.’ The record is a dark and meditative collection of five songs written for voice and piano which finds the singer diving deep into his own battle with mental illness. With the new record Cosme hopes to reach out to those who struggle with similar issues and to raise awareness of the pain and suffering many face in silence.
Mary Bleeds’ debut album will be available everywhere on May 31, 2021 with Guilherme Cosme’s solo EP ‘Demon’ following close behind in June.
