our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Filip Dahl. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify I really liked his musical vision.
As soon as I pressed the play button, I immediately realized that I was in front of a great musician, with a lot of compositional experience behind him.
The melody of the guitar solo of the new single Cry of a Broken Heart reminded me of the exciting ballads of Scorpions. A nostalgic and profound melody capable of speaking directly to the heart and soul of the listener.
Filip Dahl has a great talent and creativity within him, the attention to every minimum harmonic nuance is maniacal and his music is brilliant.
Honestly, I found no flaws in production, performance, and recording. A masterfully produced song that has the ability to excite the listener from the first to the last second.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.
Cry of a Broken Heart is Filip Dahl’s Single Out Now!

Filip Dahl is a Norwegian composer and multi-instrumentalist. He started his music career as lead guitarist in various Norwegian rock bands back in the 70’s, before moving on to become a recognized engineer and record producer. He was one of the main founders and owners of the highly acclaimed and successful Trondheim based Brygga Studio during the 80’s and 90’s. He took a self-imposed break from the music scene during the beginning of the new century, but he is now back again for full as a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist. This has so far resulted in three solo albums solely composed, performed, recorded and produced by himself.
The album “Dark Angels and White Demons” was released in 2016, “A Fire Through the Night” in 2018 while “Translucent Dreams of an Opaque Mind was released in the fall of 2020. The tracks on all three albums spans from melodic prog rock to harmonic and symphonic rock, clearly revealing his roots and influences by bands like Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Kansas, Marillion and Dream Theater. Critics have especially highlighted and acclaimed Filip Dahl’s lead guitar work, which also includes E-bow and acoustic guitar solos, as it is characterised by a distinct style and tone which is contributing to a very clear and easily recognisable signature. Six new completely new songs were all released as singles during 2021. His musical journey continues in 2022 with the release of the guitar based instrumenatl ballad «Cry of a Broken Heart».
