The vocal melody in the opener is hypnotic in its simplicity, with a contagious, repetitive charm reminiscent of Weezer’s early energy. It’s a start that immediately hooks you in.
The second track, Lullaby Blues Revisited, feels like a step into a retro dreamscape. With its vintage flair and irreverent lyrics, the song showcases the band’s refusal to adhere to convention, opting instead for pure creative expression.
This theme continues into It’s Not Easy, a track that channels ‘60s vibes with a playful nod to Elvis. Its sharp, witty lyrics paired with its throwback energy make it a standout.
It’s So Nice to Meet You amps up the pace with an exhilarating tempo and clever lyrical delivery. The band’s ability to merge quirky wordplay with vibrant instrumentation shines here, adding a visionary edge to their sound.
The slower groove of Love Ditty shifts gears, evoking the timeless croon of Frank Sinatra. The restrained percussion, with brushes on the snare, adds a touch of elegance, making it a refreshing interlude in the album’s dynamic progression.
A personal favorite, Happy Feet, channels a wild-west spirit through tremolo-laden guitar and a lively rhythm. It’s a whirlwind of vintage energy with a playful, slightly Western atmosphere, delivering pure joy from start to finish.
Closing the album is Melody Post Mortem, a track steeped in ‘70s folk tones with hypnotic vocal delivery and tremolo textures that pull you into a reflective, almost otherworldly state. It’s the perfect way to wrap up an album that’s unapologetically eclectic yet cohesive.
With Everybody Wants To See Me Happy, Angus Crowne and the Family Jewels prove they’re unafraid to take risks.
Their music thrives on unpredictability, blending humor, vintage influences, and inventive instrumentation to create an album that feels unique and alive. This is art meant to entertain, surprise, and linger long after the final note.
