The song begins with a repetitive and hypnotic riff that stops only in the chorus.
The sequence of notes and the style reminded me of ACDC. A very interesting choice, as the riff, is hard rock but the song instead tends to pop alternative rock.
It is these nuances that in my opinion make the style of this band so interesting. The ability to choose the right elements to be included in a complete and solid musical vision.
This is possible only when thanks to a developed artistic taste, as it is very easy to make bad decisions.
To this moment I haven’t found any flaws in the songs I’ve heard from The Thing With Feathers. These guys know how to do it and always manage to compose good tracks.

‘Don’t Break My Heart’, the first of five singles from their upcoming sophomore EP, comes on the heels of their ‘Lights Down Low’ music video being added into rotation on MTVs Spankin’ New, a featured performance at this year’s South By Southwest in Austin, TX, and a tour in support of their debut EP that will continue into the fall.
Featuring a guitar riff that instantly feels like an all-time classic rock riff, its energy is met with frank and resounding lyrics about an unstable relationship fueled by insecurity from its male lead (“I know I’m solid for an evening, but I never seem to work this out // she said ‘it’s working now, just shut your mouth’”).
