DIOMEDES is The Diomedes’ Album Out Now

Good Day Noir Family,
From the opening chords of “Maw,” the first track on The Diomedes’s self-titled album, it’s clear that this band is out to make a statement, carving their own path in the musical landscape.

“Maw” transitions into “Ruins,” like a Kafkaesque metamorphosis showcasing the band’s compositional talent.

This intense track, infused with modern and dystopian vibes, evokes memories of Muse, while the vocals transport the listener back in time, reminiscent of David Bowie.

“Alchemists” stands out with its charming melody and theatrical flair. The sinister arrangements, particularly in the piano, create an atmosphere reminiscent of “The Phantom of the Opera.”

“These Walls, They Are Warning Signs” is a controlled chaos, paying homage to prog and avant-garde genres. The incredible backing vocals and synthesizer solo would fit perfectly into a Dario Argento film.

“Between The Devil And The Deep Blue See” is a gem, perhaps the album’s crowning achievement. An epic intro sets the tone, then a Nick Cave-esque vocals guide the listener through this intriguing journey.

The song gradually builds in intensity, creating a sense of intrigue and instability, leaving the listener on the edge of their seat.

Around the two-minute mark, the song takes flight, transporting the listener to a parallel universe with its intricate melody, culminating in an irresistible urge to sing along.

The Diomedes deliver a cohesive and impressive album, showcasing their unique musical vision. Their ability to blend genres and create unique compositions sets them apart from the crowd.

This is a band that truly inspires, offering music that is innovative and thought-provoking..

Mark Champion (vocals. guitars, synths) David Myers (drums) George Harris (Lead guitar, backing vocals)

Mark Champion and David Myers were introduced at a gig somewhere around 2008, then some years later decided to try putting a recording project together. The result accidentally ended up becoming The Diomedes first album ‘Traps’.

They went on to play live as a two piece for years, then in 2023 George Harris introduced himself after a Diomedes gig and suggested he could help flesh out the sound and add another layer of chaos. He was correct.
