Good Day Noir Family, DCxPC Live is back with another very powerful band, The Goons.
DCxPC Live Vol. 5 Presents: The Goons Live at The Black Cat
The speed of execution and the chaotic and instinctive performance of this band left me speechless.
Playing that fast is very difficult and these guys are also precise while acting crazy on stage…we are dealing with professionals.
It is not easy to maintain this performance quality and above all, it is not easy to play so cohesively. The rhythm section is solid and the bass follows all the rhythmic designs of the kick like a shadow.
The singer is a show animal, he leaves his lungs and his heart on stage because he wants to give an unforgettable experience to the audience.
The sound of the guitars is aggressive and powerful and gives the right violence to the whole sound.
The songs flow well, I was really impressed by the technical difficulty of these pieces.
I’ve listened to this album several times and although it’s punk I feel like bringing it closer to metal too.
Truly a great band, it’s a shame they broke up.

DCxPC Live Vol. 5 Presents: The Goons Live at The Black Cat
The Goons were a hardcore/punk band from the Washington DC area that was active from 1994-2006. The suburban youth condition breeds apathy and hopelessness but making noise was something to care about. The next show was a reason not to get arrested. The faces in the crowd affirmed that there was something more in the DC area than uptight pigs. The Goons sought to stir up and contribute to bringing that “more” together… and make a mess! How did The Goons make friends? They blasted them in the face with short, tight blasts of “mohican-kid speed-rock” and dared them to come out and play. Frustrated with the people you’re stuck dealing with? Sick of your job? Bored with the radio? Don’t see a reason to play their game? Don’t fit in and don’t want to? The Goons were your people. The Goons are your people. Shave your head. Steal from your job. Waste time with your friends trying to make something.
