This band conquered me from the first seconds. The musical arrangements are exquisite and bring with them many cultures and traditions.
Surely we are faced with great musicians with remarkable musical knowledge behind them and with extraordinary compositional skills.
The sounds are sincere and real and can literally make you savor the taste of distant lands.
Davka is truly an incredible musical experience.
I saw odalisques dancing for me in an oasis of the Sahara. I saw a caravan of gypsies wandering through the Balkans. I ran alongside the bulls in Pamplona and I was hypnotized like a cobra by his master on the banks of the Ganges.
I suggest to everyone listen to Baklava Express’ masterpiece several times. Only in this way will you be able to appreciate all the nuances and the obsessive attention to every single detail.
This band is a gift to the world.

Baklava Express is a NYC based Middle Eastern fusion project, led by Oud player Josh Kaye. The band mostly performs original music, influenced by the traditions of the Arab world, Turkey, and Greece, as well as Jazz, Flamenco, Rock, and Eastern European Folk music. The eclectic influences and vast differences in the musical backgrounds of its members have created a group whose style is distinct, yet genre defiant.
