The visionary director of Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive David Lynch has made a 2015 short movie available online, accompanied by the disturbing soundtrack by musician Marek Zebrowski
Prolific and innovative as it has always been, it is no wonder that director David Lynch is indefatigable even in this difficult period affected by the coronavirus. The master behind the Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive masterpieces in recent months has enjoyed updating fans of his YouTube channel on the climate of Los Angeles. All from a kind of bunker situated in his Californian house. If that weren’t enough, Lynch has recently released one of his many experimental shorts on YouTube, titled Fire (Pozar).
The video, lasting just over 10 minutes, is not actually unpublished, because it dates back to 2015 and had already been screened on some selected occasions, but now reaches the general public from all over the world directly online.
It is a collaboration between the director and Polish-born American musician Marek Zebrowski, who composed the disturbing soundtrack. The images are the result of a rough and “expressionist” animation, in which bestial creatures, fires, and lightning suggest an apocalyptic scenario. Difficult, as often happens with this artist, to attribute a precise meaning to his works.
