Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Cosmopolis. I discovered this band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was intrigued by the vibes of their music.
The sound of this band immediately convinced me as it is mysterious, unique … sometimes even sinister.
You immediately have the feeling of being in front of musicians with great compositional experience behind them.
The melodic construction of their new single Nixon-Manson is very interesting and the chord progression is never predictable and banal.
Cosmopolis have managed to mix elements of the past with modern musical arrangements and make them coexist in a unique and mature sound.
The production is very good and you feel that these guys have played a lot together to reach such an enviable sound understanding.
A beautiful discovery that I recommend to everyone.
Nixon-Manson is Cosmopolis’ Single Out Now!
Innovative and Mature!
Post-punk art rock group Cosmopolis produce dark, haunting music, drawing on a wide range of influences ranging from the Velvet Underground, through Radiohead to Massive Attack and Swans. Cosmopolis operate in a new kind of way. The three core members – Gavin Kendall, Nicholas Platten and David Hussey – are based around the world, in Belgium, Australia and England, making music together, sometimes physically and other times virtually. The songs are recorded in multiple locations and are arranged, mixed and mastered in the cloud.
The haunting new single Nixon-Manson takes us through a dark musical odyssey as it rides the crest of the late 60’s cultural wave – hope and possibility giving way to an evil combination of crime, corruption and military might. On “Nixon-Manson”, Cosmopolis lean into their shadowy signature sound with reckless abandon, and the result is riveting. Fans of artists like Swans, Killing Joke, Nick Cave, Pink Floyd and Bauhaus should enjoy this release.
