The thing that immediately struck me about this band is the singer’s voice… scratchy and hoarse which gives incredible energy to the sound of this band.
Late ’90s early 2000s influences are evident but these guys have managed to create an original and modern musical blend.
Surely we are dealing with great musicians who spend a lot of time in the rehearsal room. Their musical alchemy is enviable and the performance is absolutely flawless.
Seeing MAL live must be the real deal. The sound is powerful and direct with no strings attached.
Not only the music but also the lyrics are intriguing. This band has a solid and mature vision and they will be very successful in my opinion.
Honestly, I couldn’t find any problem with this project, Come to Light is a beautiful song and I can’t wait to listen to the full album this summer.

Come to Light is MAL’s Single Out Now
Come to Light is the first single and title-track to the forthcoming full-length album to be released in Summer 2023 by the Van Nuys, California Alternative Rock Trio, MAL.
This uplifting, hard-hitting song was written and recorded during the dreary and infamous lockdowns in L.A. where bands with a following couldn’t do what they were born to: melt brains and rock people’s heads off.
This lull in activity and tragic forces inspired Come To Light is about staying true to oneself. It’s about recapturing one’s self and re-awakening in the midst of those divisive, hostile dark times.
The band, having lost loved ones ( to a variety of reasons during the lockdown, performs this song with a passion and hope for those listening to break all molds keeping them from their own happiness, fulfillment and knowledge and trust in themselves.
MAL is Peter Hollywood, Bass (Studio Musician, engineer, and formerly of bands Ding Mao and Vermiscious Kanids), Kris Jung, Vocals/ Guitar(Formerly of Black Cast and Radio Free America), and Brendan Reynolds, Drums (formerly of Flowbis and Boy Hits Car).
