Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Coastal Fire Dept. I discovered this band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was delighted by their music.
Immediately I was struck by the energy of this band. A revived and slightly vintage sound reminiscent of the 90’s.
Distorted guitars that push, and drums that leave no respite with a dry and decisive snare.
The slightly raspy voice adds even more charm to this already heavy rock sound.
I like this sound very much, also because I think that in the last years the music has weakened a lot, so when I find bands that still love to make healthy rock and roll I am in my comfort zone.
Horns up to them to keep doing it without compromise.
The band is tight and you can tell they’ve spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room to improve their chemistry.
They have succeeded very well by creating an enviable cohesion.
Radio is Coastal Fire Dept’s Ep Out Now!
Rock and Roll ready to serve you!
Coastal Fire Dept. are a grunge/ alt rock band hailing from Guernsey, Channel Islands.
Following the release of their mini-album ‘Control’ last year, the band have been pushing their sound sonically in 2020 and also fulfilled a dream by working with Ken Andrews (Failure, Stone Temple Pilots, Paramore, Chris Cornell etc) who produced their single ‘You Are Stuck’.
The next single ‘I Don’t Wanna Hold Your Hand’ was mastered by Fabian Tormin (Biffy Clyro, The Horrors etc) and he mastered the ‘Radio’ EP and the next album ‘Connected’ due out on 15 January 2021.
The band record their music in Guernsey with long time collaborator Mikey Ferbrache at Apocalypse Studios. Their music is unashamedly influenced by American 90s grunge/alt rock but with an added twist!
‘Radio’ was made specifically for radio however the original ‘dirty grungy’ versions of those songs will appear on the album.
