Ces années-là is Jaime’s Tone’s Ep Out Now
Good Day Noir Family,
Experiencing an EP in two different languages is a rare treat, and with Ces années-là, the French counterpart to All Those Years, Jaime’s Tone delivers a fascinating transformation of his own work.

Language, after all, shapes rhythm and melody in unexpected ways, and here, the shift from English to French adds a new layer of nuance and depth to an already evocative collection.
Take Les années difficiles, for instance—its driving rhythm remains, but in French, the melody takes on a more ethereal quality, almost like an oracle speaking through the music.
Les jeunes années feels even more mysterious, carrying a dystopian weight that wasn’t as pronounced in its English version. Meanwhile, Les années folles retains its introspective nature, but the refinement of the French language elevates its elegance.
Les années heureuses is mesmerizing, its hypnotic and tribal groove enriched by subtle inflections that seem heightened by the way French syllables land within the arrangement.
Les années oubliées paints vivid images of an empty Côte d’Azur beach, where the wind sways forgotten umbrellas—a song steeped in nostalgia and raw emotion.
Les années ensoleillées stands out as the most avant-garde piece, embracing a more experimental edge. Here, the English version perhaps had a slight advantage, feeling more assertive where French leans toward the fluid and melodic.
Closing the EP, Les années futures brings back the grandeur of melody, with French emphasizing its richness in a way that is striking and immersive. The song embodies a sense of forward motion, an anticipation of what’s to come, heightened by Jaime’s natural connection to his native language.
Ultimately, Ces années-là proves to be more than a simple translation. Jaime’s Tone feels truly at home in his native language, and his performance carries a natural confidence that makes this version even more immersive.
A beautiful release that highlights the power of interpretation and language in music.

The album is the French version of Jaime’s Tone’s highly acclaimed fourth English-language album, All Those Years. It is specifically aimed at French-speaking audiences worldwide.
“After four albums in English, I finally found the courage to sing in my own language, which is French,” said Jacques M., founder of Jaime’s Tone. “And what better way to start than with an album featuring deeply personal lyrics, referencing the stories of some of my family members,” he added.
“In a way, it’s a kind of concept album, almost like a solo record. But of course, you’ll still find that signature Jaime’s Tone touch!”
