Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Catherine Elms. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I liked her musical vision.
I was very impressed by the sound proposed by this talented artist.
Her voice immediately intrigued me and somehow she was able to speak directly to my soul.
A compositional style that takes inspiration from the past but which has been wisely modernized. The attention to every little detail is obsessive and the production is perfect for the genre … a little raw which makes this music even more sincere.
The thing I liked most about Catherine Elms is that this artist didn’t try to follow commercial rules, she just followed her instinct and managed to find her music and bring her his vision to reality.
The ending of Frustrations is beautiful, it’s like a guillotine, a very fast fade-out that makes you want to go back to the beginning and press play again.
A beautiful discovery that I recommend to everyone.
Frustrations is Catherine Elms’ Single Out Now!
Dark and Magical!
Catherine Elms is a dark alternative singer/songwriter and pianist, whose music combines heavy rock, dark cabaret, emotionally-charged melodies and impassioned lyrics. A self-taught non-classical pianist, Catherine’s raw and evocative playing style lies directly between the brash power of PJ Harvey and the baroque pop-rock of 1990s Tori Amos. Her music possesses a dark intensity with softly defined edges: both introspective and spirited. Described as “dramatic” (Buzz Magazine), “adventurous” (The Flux), “fragile and fierce” (Off The Radar), and “haunting” (South Wales Evening Post), Catherine is a rising artist in the South Wales music scene driven ever forward by a growing loyal fanbase.
