As soon as I heard the mysterious and sinister guitar riff introducing the song, I was immediately bewitched by the music of this artist.
Aldís Fjóla’s compositional style contains all the elements I look for in a beautiful song. Atmosphere, articulated chord progression, and above all energy.
This artist has a wild and irreverent rock spirit in her soul. You can feel that the magnificent nature that surrounds her influences her music.
As I was listening to her new single Burn I saw the mist, the green moss, and the black rocks of Iceland. You can feel the magma pushing beneath you, the energy of living earth turning into music.
Aldís Fjóla is a great artist who offers intense and solid music. For sure she has a great compositional experience behind her.
An artist who follows her instinct and who manages to create epic songs without strings attached.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

Burn is Aldís Fjóla’s New Single | Edgar Allan Poets
Raised in the spectacular nature and melancholy fog of Borgarfjörður eystra, farmgirl Aldís Fjóla started her career at ten years old in a local singing contest. Taking it very seriously, she did not win but continued writing down dramatic lyrics of the death of her cat and other things that needed to come out.
In her teen years she drowned herself in Rock, grunge and also happier music, but was always looking for the pain, sarcasm and meaning of the lyrics. With bands like Skunk Anansie, Pearl Jam, No doubt and Alanis Morisette in her ears, Aldís Fjóla wished to experience that raw pain at 16 years old, just to be able to write those words down.
After years of self-doubt and experiencing that raw pain, Aldís Fjóla started collaborating with the talented Stefán Örn Gunnlaugsson, musician and sound engineer, and starting bringing her music to life with his help. All of a sudden her pain and vulnerability was reflected in her songs and her first album, Shadows, was released in 2020. Next album will be released in 2022 and will be an EP inspired by her and Stefán Örn’s roots in Grunge Rock music.
