The sound of this band is interesting and energetic.
The thing that struck me most is that in the compositional style, I felt the influences of different generations and therefore a different way of understanding music.
Some tunes seem to be inspired by Classic Rock, others by Prog, and others by alternative rock with much more modern rock/punk vibes.
The blend of these genres distinguishes the music of Mertens Folly. We certainly find ourselves in front of eclectic and talented musicians.
The band has released an album I Just Wanna Learn in Lullaby and one of the most solid songs is certainly Bright Red Lipstick. A fresh and intense track that in some moments reminded me of bands such as Blink 182 or Sum 41.
The tune pushes from the first to the last second and the melody stays in the head for a long time after listening.
An interesting band that produces quality music.

Their debut album, “I Just Wanna Learn a Lullaby,” was released in October 2022 and showcases the band’s creative versatility, with soul-stirring melodies and fiercely original sounds. The album is a testament to the power of family, as the band mates are three generations of musicians who wrote and recorded the music for the love of it, not for fame or fortune. Any profits from the album will be donated to a charity that teaches financial literacy to kids.
