The rough and direct sound of this band immediately hooked me. You can feel that the sacred fire of rock flows in these guys.
TWO TONNE MACHETE looks for real emotions. It is evident that they spent a lot of time in the rehearsal room spitting blood on the instruments to achieve this musical alchemy.
Just imagine listening to them live in a room full of wild dancing people…just amazing!
This is the real music…without beats and computers but only instruments put to the test by the decibels that just want to crack the walls.
BLOCKS hits you like a punch in the gut… solid and above all sincere and direct. Bands like TWO TONNE MACHETE are the ones keeping the punk/rock movement alive.

BLOCKS is TWO TONNE MACHETE’s Single
TWO TONNE MACHETE are Em, Ro and Josh. They’re a brand new feminist punk three piece from NW England. They formed after a JOHN gig in Liverpool. Around the same time they read an interview with Joe Talbot from IDLES who spoke of his desire to ‘cut through apathy and dark times like a two tonne machete.’ They adopted this as their name as it echoed their own DIY punk ethics and their uncompromisingly raw, high energy sound.
Their first single TRAP was played on scores of radio stations worldwide, including Radio X in the UK where it was championed by John Kennedy as his ‘X-posure hot one’ in November 2022. On PUNK AF Radio’s Top 100 songs of the year, it ranked an impressive 20th. Not bad for their first song! BLOCKS is scheduled to be championed by John Kennedy again and on BBC Introducing.
BLOCKS voices the frustration and heartbreak felt when those we love take us for granted. It combines elements of Nirvana, Dead Kennedys, Amyl & The Sniffers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
