Opening with “Shake,” the band immediately throws you into a fast-paced thrill ride that introduces their bold, energetic sound.
It’s the kind of track that feels like a speeding train, barreling toward their unique musical universe, making you fall headfirst into what Birdman Cult is all about.
“Gone to Pot” follows with a distorted bassline that scrapes against the skin, before launching into the band’s signature blend of vintage and modern influences.
There’s a certain gritty charm to the way they mix old-school rock elements with something fresh and current.
“Time” continues this intensity, evoking shades of Alice in Chains with its ominous chord progression and a vocal delivery that mirrors the haunting instability of songs like “Check My Brain.”
“Let Me Out” takes a more introspective turn, slowing things down but maintaining a pressing momentum that keeps you hooked. It’s a track that allows you to breathe while still keeping the pressure on.
One of my favorites on the album is “Ferryman.” Here, the grunge influences become unmistakable, especially in the guitar riff that drives the song.
With their rhythmic cadence, the vocals pull you into a hypnotic trance, showcasing the band’s ability to mesmerize with their intensity.
“Highs and Lows” brings out the band’s British roots more clearly than any other track, offering a catchy rhythm and a melody that practically begs for a sing-along. This one feels anthemic, a testament to their knack for writing memorable hooks.
The album closes with the enigmatic “Modern Man,” a post-apocalyptic anthem marked by epic undertones and dynamic shifts, proving Birdman Cult’s ability to craft unforgettable tunes.
This album is a true gem, one that mixes grunge, British rock, and modern flair into something undeniably powerful.

The album serves as a chronology of the quintet, starting with the fevered garage rock groove of debut single Snakes, right up to the current day via the Covid-era kosmische sounds of Whiskey Sunburn. But it also a statement of intent, with songs new and old showing the band is ready and willing to out-rock and out-roll anyone who crosses their path.
Bristol alternative quintet Birdman Cult have been peddling their original blend of hook-heavy, Post-Punk Garage-rock since 2020. The band have previously self-released a slew of singles partnering with national pluggers and pr agencies which garnered praise from critics and crowds alike through radio and covid era gigging.
