Good Day Noir Family,
our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Aversions. I discovered this Band while shuffling songs on Spotify and I like their sound a lot.
The sound of this band made me step back into the past and reminded me of the punk bands of the eighties. The amazing thing is that these guys have managed to bring a touch of modernity that I would call avant-garde that makes their sound unique and immediately recognizable.
In some moments their compositional style reminded me of the English musical movement.
The acid and direct sound and the interpretation, that I would define, direct and irreverent literally won me over.
This band was able to bring their musical vision to reality by following a courageous path that ultimately rewarded them.
I recommend everyone to go and listen to them as Aversions offer unique and sincere music.
Sharp Left Turns is Aversions’ Single Out Now!
Innovative!
A quixotic mix of American post-punk and ’80s post-hardcore, Aversions are modest East Vancouver work-a-days trying to live the axiom of art interlacing life. Muscular riffage, left-turn basslines and sledgehammer drumming provide the substrate for vocalist Sam Coll’s acidic takes on topics big and small, as the band alternately exalt and disparage the many contradictions of the beleaguered town they call home.
