All Tricks, No Treats is Russell Murray’s Album Out Now
The album kicks off with a chilling intro, “Tricks – Intro,” a piece that showcases a meticulous selection of sounds reminiscent of horror icons like Carpenter.
It sets a brooding tone that’s sinister and inviting, drawing you into Murray’s complex world.
“This Can Only End One Way” follows, pulling listeners deeper into Murray’s universe, blending Norvigian influences with heavy electronic undertones that create an atmosphere of controlled chaos.
The song teeters on the edge of stability, offering a balance between tension and release that’s incredibly engaging.
Next, “Burnout – Remake” solidifies the album’s impact with an intense vocal delivery that channels shades of Marilyn Manson, hitting like a dark avalanche.
“Savior” cranks up the intensity even further with a relentless beat, raw lyrics, and a vocal performance that feels unfiltered and emotional. The surprise female vocal adds a striking contrast, elevating the track’s depth.
Another highlight is “VAMP!RE,” where a mesmerizing guitar riff paired with an eerie keyboard arpeggio locks you in. The vocals shift fluidly, adding texture and keeping the energy high throughout.
Then there’s “Her (Faceless),” a song made for a mosh pit, but with a haunting twist. The use of autotune distorts the vocals just enough to lend an eerie, unsettling vibe that’s memorable and effective.
The closing track “Demons” showcases Murray’s ability to compose epic melodies that, while still exploring darker themes, offer a sense of escapism that’s more reflective than intense. This final track proves that Murray is as versatile as he is bold.
Every song on All Tricks, No Treats is solid, offering a cohesive yet varied listening experience. This album is a fantastic discovery for anyone looking to dive into a world of haunting riffs, intense vocals, and meticulously crafted dark energy.
