our “E.A.Poets Approved/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Alex Starling. I discovered this Artist while shuffling songs on Spotify and I was intrigued by his voice.
The thing that struck me from the first seconds is the voice of this artist.
A voice that in some moments made me think of a female, but then listening carefully you feel instead that it is a man singing and you appreciate all its nuances.
This artist offers us a very melodic and dreamy music.
Nostalgic and crepuscular melodies that speak directly to the heart and soul. A very refined and wisely designed music that excites from the first to the last second.
The production is excellent and every sound element finds the right space in the mix.
A nice discovery that I recommend to everyone.

This is Alex Starling second single mixed by Eduardo De La Paz (Arcade Fire, The National) is a departure from the synth-led sounds of his previous work.
Tunnelling For Villains is a melancholic ballad told from the point of view of a couple watching visitors enter the gates of Pentonville prison. The song was written in The Breakout a cafe opposite Pentonville in north London, a popular amongst locals and prison visitors. It features cinematic synths, and a distinctively organic, analogue feel, culminating in a choir led outro and big guitar soundscapes.
