our “Edgar Allan Poets’ Artists/Bands We Like” section is dedicated to Robbie Rapids. I found this Duo on Spotify and I was fascinated by their music.
The music of this duo made me think of a band in particular.

Their new single reminded me of Soul Asylum’s Runaway Train. A compositional style that takes inspiration from the 90s but manages to be modern at the same time.
The vocal timbre and the interpretative style also reminded me of those years.
A song that makes you fly with your imagination. As I was listening to this beautiful melody I imagined myself driving a convertible through the endless American roads, one of those days when you just want to be with yourself.
When I hit the play button and this music started to caress my ears I felt like I opened a drawer and found old yellowed Polaroids in it. For a moment I relived those good memories.
Adolescent Lover is a sweet and free song that I recommend to everyone.

Robbie Rapids is a singer/guitarist from Grand Rapids, MI now residing in Atlanta, GA. Robbie’s style of music can be described as Jangly Power Pop Rock. He’s the creative songwriter and lyricist who teamed up with prolific top session musician/producer David Levene, to create a collection that pulls from 4 decades of rock influence (‘60s-‘90s). Their similarity in music taste in artists such as David Bowie, The Who, Tom Petty, Oasis, Stone Temple Pilots, etc. and professionalism has created true works of art.
David Levene’s musical journey begins at 16 when he traveled to Peru. It is there where in 1968 he joined the psychedelic legendary rock band “Laghonia”. LAGHONIA was mentioned in Rolling Stone Magazine among the top Rock bands to emerge from that part of the continent. Laghonia’s music is still being played on commercials in England today. After 2 records and touring to support the albums, a young David left the group to return to the US to study recording technology while pursuing his music career and gaining more experience as a session player/producer. In 1996 David settled in Atlanta where he now is the owner of Big Sound Productions ATL. In 2019 he was the recipient of an award for his music and production work.
