Einsam is the project of Bristol-born writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Sam Jackson, conceived during four years living in Vienna and realised on returning to Bristol in 2020.
“I built the song from a process of layering loops, starting with simple parts until the loop became this full and bouncing thing. It was the first of a series of songs written in this way, and set the tone for the record. It felt revelatory at the time, just starting for the sake of starting and not thinking too much about where I was going with it. After a bit of a block, the little epiphany was that your locus of control is really a binary decision in each moment – to choose to accede or refuse; to go with or against. Where you arrive after that is the consequence of each little yes and no stacked up.” – Sam Jackson
