Opening with The Sole Witness, the duo introduces us to an oracle-like voice, a blend of masculine and feminine tones, setting an otherworldly atmosphere reminiscent of a barren Mad Max desert.
It’s an eerie prologue that lures you into the intense world they’ve crafted.
The EP’s true nature erupts with Hubris (Conquest), an electrifying hard rock track that hits you like a bullet train, delivering powerful riffs and an aggressive vocal presence that demands attention.
This energy doesn’t falter as Gen-Ded (War) brings rhythmic complexity into the mix. It’s as if the track is crafted from quicksand, shifting unpredictably while maintaining a rock-solid core—a clear testament to Hipflask Virgins’ bold experimentation.
Then comes Ragnarock (Famine), a powerhouse track with a fierce drive that evokes a primal urge to let loose and move with the beat.
With Last Day (Death), the mood shifts to something ethereal and foreboding. This track begins with a suspenseful calm that gives way to a ponderous rhythm, evoking a weight as monumental as Pyrrhus’ elephants crossing the Alps—a true epic moment in the album’s narrative.
The EP closes on a haunting note with Goodbye Earth, a portrayal of an uncertain world, one that mirrors the pervasive global unrest and looming shadows of conflict.
Kerberos Vol.1: Last Day is a high-energy, dystopian ride that keeps you hooked from start to finish. This powerful album strikes a chord with its apocalyptic themes and gritty execution.

Dystopian!
The alt-rock duo wanted to explore a more cinematic approach for their next project, inspired by prog-rock bands like Tool and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and the inclusion of Ruben Seabright brings an exciting new dimension to their sound. Ruben has become a well-loved and immediately recognisable voice in the West Midlands music scene over the years, and has shared line-up with the Virgins on many occasions.
The name “Kerberos” refers to the three-headed dog of Ancient Greek mythology, and doubles as a pseudonym for the three men in the band — Ruben, Jay, and Will. The EP will be the first of a science fiction anthology series that tells the story of the last day on earth, depicted in the awe-inspiring cover art by Norwegian illustrator Robert Høyem.
