I don’t think you can call it a functioning relationship when you feel like you’re halfway down your partner’s list of priorities. I was not going to just be someone’s stepping stone to finding their identity, or stick around just to keep their conscience clear. I had a word with myself, reconsidered my boundaries and prioritised my own mental health and self-value, even if it meant burning a load of bridges.“
