The opening track, “Kind,” sets a soothing tone, where even though the lyrics dig deep, the music itself breezes by like a calm summer wind. It’s an effortless start that hints at the depth yet to come.

“For the Road” shifts gears, offering a rhythmic, almost country-inspired feel that makes you want to tap your feet. The vocal delivery subtly nods to Johnny Cash in its warmth and narrative style, drawing you into the song’s energy.

“Far” slows things down, revealing a delicate ballad full of emotion. Then, “Conquered” showcases Sukh’s musical talent, building slowly into something powerful—its progression evokes legendary artists like Rod Stewart or Elvis Costello.

“Love Atom” plays with experimentation, layering a vocoder effect over the vocals, creating a futuristic twist that adds intrigue to the album’s diverse sound.

“Faith” brings a burst of energy, with a hint of nostalgia, pushing Sukh’s sound toward the realm of alternative rock. The track’s chorus is almost anthemic, adding a fresh dynamic to the album’s flow.

“Home” offers a moment of reflection, with a refined melody that feels comforting, much like the feeling of reconnecting with your roots after being away. It’s a track that’s bound to resonate with anyone who’s experienced the joy of returning to something familiar.

Lastly, “If You Are” lifts the listener into an ethereal space, with reverb-laden keyboards and airy arrangements that make you feel like you’re drifting toward distant places.

Heading East is another impressive release from Sukh, blending heartfelt lyrics with varied and imaginative compositions that span genres while remaining cohesive.

Journey!

Heading East is Sukh’s Album Out Now

The new album “Heading East” from SUKH is a departure from his previous record “Age of Strangers”. Embracing classic songwriting the album is a meditation on long term relationships and companionate love. An album about the navigating the ups and downs of life together. SUKH wanted to explore the nature of long term relationships; the part after the initial thrill of novelty. He wanted to write a more optimistic record after his previous work.

Sukh is a Wolverhampton born, Manchester based singer-songwriter and doctor. Sukh’s first record “Kings” was met with critical acclaim when it was released in 2013. Rewind/Fast Forward claimed it was “Beautifully arranged with a charming warmth” and Clash Magazine wrote “It seems that the Manchester artist is confident enough to write songs – great big, hulking things
which groan under the weight of the emotion contained therein.
