Good Day Noir Family,
David Nicholas, the creative force behind the musical project Sansyou, has crafted an album that feels like a gentle breeze on a quiet evening.

Spaces In Between is Sansyou’s Album Out Now

“Spaces In Between,” the opening track that shares its name with the album, immediately sets a tone of delicacy.

The vocals float effortlessly, like a gossamer thread, over a melody where the guitars soar lightly, almost as if they’re suspended in mid-air. There’s an unmistakable sophistication to the sound—an elegance that permeates every note and chord.

The second track, “My Moving Parts,” sustains this ethereal atmosphere. It’s music that invites you to dream, offering a therapeutic balm for the soul.

The sonic textures here are harmoniously balanced, creating an experience that’s calming and introspective.

With “Due South Pacific,” the mood shifts slightly towards nostalgia. The vocals are sparingly used, allowing the guitars to take the spotlight with their intricate arpeggios and solos.

The result is a composition that feels deeply reflective, evoking a sense of longing and memory.

“Every Rung,” an instrumental piece, is another highlight, transporting the listener to distant places. There’s a simplicity in its structure that belies its emotional depth.

Perhaps the standout of the album is “The Undertow.” This track introduces a touch of mystery, with a vocal delivery that has a vintage quality, harking back to the sounds of the 1980s.

There’s a sense of something hidden, a secret waiting to be uncovered, and this intrigue draws you in, making it a memorable part of the album.

“Play What You Want to Hear” closes the album with a statement of artistic freedom. Throughout the album, Sansyou, under Nicholas’s guidance, does exactly this—delivering music that is original and unmistakably unique.

There’s no doubt about Nicholas’s compositional talent, which shines through in every track.

Delicate!

What lies in the intersection between sight and sound? Sansyou explores this question with Spaces In Between and the accompanying video for the title track. In a first for Sansyou, three new songs feature Kelli Miyahira of Natto Princess (vocals), with David Nicholas (guitars) and Kellii Scott of Failure (drums) plus the multi-faceted contributions from producer Jarrett Nicolay (bass, keys, drums).
