Good Day Noir Family,
Jeff Vidov’s latest single, “Running in Place,” kicks off with a burst of energy that hits the ground running.

The track wastes no time diving into a dynamic groove, propelled by a relentless pounding drumbeat and powerful guitar riffs that inject an adrenaline rush straight into your veins.

This is a song designed to electrify, with stellar arrangements and an impeccable melodic structure that showcases Vidov’s skillful craftsmanship.

Right from the start, Vidov demonstrates his ability to build a track that not only hooks you but keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The melody is catchy, and as the song progresses, it reveals layers of complexity that keep you engaged throughout.

Around the two-minute mark, Vidov introduces a bridge that shifts the harmonic landscape, paving the road for the keyboard solo that teeters on the edge of avant-garde—a bold move that pays off brilliantly.

One of the elements elements that I liked a lot is the continuous use of an arpeggiator, which adds a futuristic edge to the track.

This rhythmic pulse, present throughout the song, enhances the overall atmosphere, giving it a modern twist that feels both fresh and timeless.

The combination of these elements—driving rhythm, melodic hooks, and innovative production—results in a track that not only impresses on a technical level but also resonates emotionally.

Powerful!

Running in Place is about taking fate into your own hands, and sometimes challenging your fate. This is one of a few songs I dreamt and actually remembered when I woke up. I immediately went to my grand piano and recorded on my cassette (!) player.
The song features the stellar real drumming of Argentian musicians Lucas Seaone and bassist Marco Toba. It’s a high energy catchy rock/pop song with some lyrical insight from Shakespeare on the meaning of destiny and has a few lines in French.
I was driving in Montreal while listening to the instrumental mix of this song in my car, and just started singing some of the Shakespeare quotes in the lyrics in French, and thought it would work great in the song.

Canadian born composer/pianist Jeff Vidov first attracted attention by winning the SOCAN Composer’s Award for his first orchestral work “AWAKEN” in 1994. Jeff received his BM as a scholarship student at the prestigious Eastman School of Music (one of the top music schools in the USA) and his Masters degree at the Manhattan School of Music and had numerous private lessons with Pulitzer Prize winning composers Christopher Rouse and Joseph Schwantner, as well as eminent composers Samuel Adler, Warren Benson, Richard Danielpour and Robert Morris and learned vocal technique for 3 years from Donald Neuen.
