The rhythmic cadence of this song and the vocal melody catapulted me back in time.
In the compositional style of this band, I felt influences of the Beatles and Beach Boys.
A psychedelic and intriguing rock that has the ability to make you travel with your imagination.
While listening to Severed Hands I imagined driving a convertible through the streets of Los Angeles in the 70s.
The song’s harmonic construction is impeccable and the dynamics keep the listener entertained from start to finish.
The production is excellent and the performance is flawless. It is evident that we are dealing with musicians with a great compositional experience behind them.
This a great discovery that I recommend everyone to go and listen to.

Severed Hands is The Ghost Party’s Single
Texas-based band The Ghost Party brings forth an Indie Psych Revival sound with dazed vocals, gentle guitar jangles, and lingering organs. The act consists of singer-songwriter/guitarist McCullough Ferguson, drummer Victor Sanchez, and bass/keys player Kendrick Ballard. The Ghost Party pays homage to the godfathers of psych rock while advancing the form with a few modern twists and turns. Mixing sunny harmonies, fuzzed out guitars, and vintage combo organs to great effect and recording it to analog tape.
Their debut single “Severed Hands” was produced by Khruangbin producer Steve Christensen — and is out now! “This is a song we wrote based on a recurring dream and about generally feeling ‘in between,’” the band says. “We got to indulge our ‘60s psych sensibilities a bit with double tracked vocal harmonies, droney organs, 12 string guitar jangle, and tape echo warble. This song seems chill but hints at some melancholy vibes and strange nostalgia.”
